In short

Roll the Rail does not ask you to sign in, does not create an account for you, and does not collect personal information about you. Everything the game remembers — which levels you have finished, your coins, your stars, the train you have chosen and your sound and haptics settings — is stored on your own device and never sent to us. We do not operate servers that receive your data, and we do not use analytics or tracking tools inside the game. This policy explains that in full, and it also explains, in advance, what would change if we introduce advertising in a future version.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Roll the Rail mobile application published by Bytera on Google Play. It does not cover Google Play itself, your device manufacturer, your network operator, or any other website or service you may reach from outside the game. Those are governed by their own policies.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information. In particular, the game does not ask for and does not receive your name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, photographs, contacts, calendar, microphone or camera input, precise or approximate location, or any account identifier from a social network or other service.

The game has no login, no profile, no leaderboard, no chat, no friend list, no cloud save and no newsletter. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing for us to store about you.

Information stored on your device

To let you carry on where you left off, the game writes a small amount of information into its own private storage area on your device. That information consists of your progress through the levels, the levels you have unlocked, the stars you have collected, your coin balance, which train you own and have selected, and whether sound and haptics are switched on.

This information stays inside the app’s sandbox on your device. It is not transmitted to Bytera, it is not shared with anyone else, and it is not readable by other applications. If you clear the app’s data from your Android settings, or uninstall the game, that information is deleted permanently. We keep no copy, so progress cannot be restored afterwards.

Permissions the app uses

The game uses the vibration permission so that it can give you a short haptic buzz when tiles slide, when the train stops, and when you collect stars. You can switch haptics off at any time from the pause menu, and the game works normally without it.

The app package may also declare internet access. The game itself works fully offline and does not send any data over the network at present; the permission is present so that advertising, described below, can be added in a later version without changing the app’s permissions.

The game does not request access to storage, contacts, location, camera, microphone, phone state or any other sensitive permission.

Advertising

Not active today. Roll the Rail contains no advertising and no in-app purchases at the time this policy takes effect. This section describes what will apply if advertising is added in a future version.

We may add advertising to a future version in order to support the game’s development. Because Roll the Rail is directed at a general audience that includes children under 13, any advertising in the game will be served only through an advertising network that is certified for Google Play’s Families policy. Advertising shown in the game will be non-personalised, which means it will be selected from the general context of the game rather than from any profile of the person playing. We will not enable interest-based or behavioural advertising, we will not permit remarketing, and we will not allow the collection of the Android Advertising ID or similar persistent identifiers for the purpose of profiling players.

Even non-personalised advertising requires a small amount of technical information to be processed by the advertising provider in order to deliver an advertisement, to limit how often the same advertisement is repeated, to measure whether it was displayed, and to detect fraud and abuse. That information is typically the device’s IP address, the device type and operating system version, the general country or region derived from the IP address, and the language setting. This information is processed by the advertising provider, not by us, and we receive only aggregate reports that do not identify any individual.

Before any advertising becomes active, we will update this policy, name the advertising provider we use and link to its policy, and update the Data safety declaration on the Google Play listing. Continuing to use the game after that update means the updated policy applies to you.

Children’s privacy

Roll the Rail is suitable for all ages, including children under 13, and we have built it so that it does not need personal information from anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, we do not ask children to provide any information, and there is no way for a child to share information with us or with other players through the game.

We follow Google Play’s Families policy requirements for apps that are directed at children, including the restriction on personalised advertising described above.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has somehow provided us with personal information, please write to hello@bytera.in and we will delete anything we hold. In practice, since the game collects nothing, there is normally nothing to delete other than data stored on your own device, which you can remove by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.

How we use information

Because we do not receive information from the game, we do not use it for any purpose. We do not build profiles, we do not sell, rent or trade information, we do not share information with data brokers, and we do not use information for marketing.

If you write to us by email, we will see your email address and whatever you put in your message. We use that only to reply to you and to fix the problem you have reported, and we delete correspondence when it is no longer needed for that purpose.

Service providers and transfers

The game itself does not use third-party services at runtime. Google Play distributes the app and operates independently of us under its own privacy policy; any information Google collects when you download or update the app is governed by Google’s policy, not by ours.

The game is built on open-source components, including the three.js graphics library and the Baloo 2 and Nunito typefaces, which are bundled inside the app. These components are shipped with the app and do not make network requests or collect information.

Security

Because we store nothing on our side, there is no central database of player information that could be breached. Data on your device is protected by Android’s application sandbox and by the security of your own device, so keeping your device updated and locked is the most effective protection.

Your rights

You can delete everything the game has stored about you at any time by clearing the app’s data in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. You do not need to contact us to do this, and we cannot do it for you, because we hold no copy.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in India, the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act in the United States. These rights usually include access, correction, deletion and objection. Since we hold no personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to give you, correct or erase, but you are welcome to write to hello@bytera.in with any request or question and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the game changes, most likely when advertising is introduced. The current version will always be available at https://play.bytera.in/roll-the-rail/roll-the-rail-privacy.html with its effective date shown at the top. Material changes will also be reflected in the app’s Google Play listing.
